On 23-24 November, the EPP Group in the European Committee of the Regions brings together journalists, data experts and young media makers to the 9th edition of its Winter University: "Using European open data for better storytelling".
By providing easy and free access to data, the European Union wants to encourage innovation and unleash further economic potential. Approximately 60 participants with 17 nationalities will take part in this year's edition to share experiences of data journalism and the potential of EU open data to break stories.
President Schneider, Vice President Abramavicius and former CoR President van den Brande will take the floor during the two days to discuss the role of cities and regions in opening up data and the event will conclude with a debate on the links between open data and data journalism's contribution to the transparency of government.
