The 111th Plenary Session of the Committee of the Regions will take place on 16-17 April 2015 in the Joseph Antall (JAN) building of the European Parliament in Brussels.
Ahead of the Plenary Session, the EPP Group in the CoR will meet with Manfred Weber, Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament and Mikuláš Dzurinda, President of the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies.
Visit of Mr Weber will provide a chance to reflect on the cooperation agreement between CoR and EP in signed last year. It reinforces the political relationship between the two EU institutions and relies on enhanced cooperation between the like-minded political groups. Mikuláš Dzurinda is expected to share his views on the role that local and regional authorities can play in Europe's return to growth and the Martens Centre's support for reform in Ukraine.
Debate on the Investment Plan and European Fund for Strategic Investments will be a highlight of the plenary session. EPP Group shadow rapporteur Wim Van De Donk will represent the EPP positions during the debate: emphasise the potential for cross border projects, heed warning that particular attention needs to be paid to SMEs and call for closer cooperation between local, regional governments and the European Investment Bank.
This time 5 EPP-led opinions are on the plenary session agenda.
