The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič will participate on 12 October in the Plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions at the occasion of the presentation of the first Annual Regional and Local Barometer by the CoR President, Apostolos Tzitzikostas. The presentation will begin at 11am, and can be followed via the CoR website.

President von der Leyen and Vice-President Šefčovič’s participation offers an opportunity to discuss the local and regional dimension of the European Union's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, foster the debate on the future of Europe, and explore how to strengthen cooperation between the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions. The presentation of the first-ever CoR Annual Regional and Local Barometer will likewise contribute to the debate on the future of cohesion policy by providing facts and findings on the economic, health and social impact on the COVID crisis on EU's regions and cities. The Barometer also includes the results of an opinion poll on perceptions of regional and local authorities and of their role in the EU's decision-making process.
