The 126th Plenary Session of the European Committee of the Regions takes place on 30 November-1St December in the European Commission's Charlemagne Building. Thirteen opinions and a Resolution on the European Commission's Work Programme 2018 will be on the agenda as well as a topic debate on the likely impact of Brexit for the local and regional authorities in the EU. Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affair, Taxation and Customs, is expected to launch a discussion on Economic and Monetary Union and Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, responsible for Competition Policy, will address the Plenary Session in relation to Michael Murphy's opinion on the EU competition policy report for 2016. Other EPP-led opinions are: - The implementation of EU macro-regional strategies from rapporteur Raffaele Cattaneo, Regional Councillor and President of Lombardia Regional Council, Italy - Modernising school and higher education, including the Council recommendation on tracking graduates, from rapporteur Csaba Borboly, President of Harghita County Council, Romania As usual, the Plenary Sessin will be preceded by a meeting of the EPP Group where Dara Murphy, EPP Vice-President and Campaign Director for the 2019 European elections, will present the EPP campaign. Having already met bilaterally with President Michael Schneider earlier this month, the intention of this meeting is to further step up the cooperation of local and regional elected politicians during the campaign and beyond, as a contribution to the EPP family's work.
